Endlessly frustrating
it frustrates me endlessly!
Oh, so irritating
irritation now complete!
Words much too elusive
and I need them to achieve!
Endlessly frustrating
it frustrates me endlessly!
Totally annoying,
it annoys me totally!
Oh, so irritating
irritation now complete!
Words too hard to find
and I need them instantly!
Totally annoying,
it annoys me totally!
Have you ever been there
where you just can’t find the word?
Have you ever sat there full of
songs that won’t be heard?
Have you ever felt as if
your life is slipping by?
Just because you lack the words
to scream out ‘that’s a lie’?
Have you ever been there
bogged down in frustration deep?
Simply because words elude you
even in your sleep…
As English is not my first language I sometimes struggle to find those words that are just out of reach for me, so when Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie asked us, in today’s Prompt 56 – Indescribable Frustration, to tackle frustration this is where I went. I should perhaps point out that I sometimes have the same difficulty finding words in my mother tongue as well… *smile*
so, since English IS my mother tongue I should not relate to this as well as I do, right? I liked this CC and I think words will always frustrate those who choose to wrestle with them.
Hahaha… Well, I am considered fluent in English (I am ridiculously proud of that) so even I shouldn’t be able to use this excuse (though it comes in handy when I say or write something wrong)… But I agree with you about words frustrating those who insist on wrestling with them.
You conveyed frustration very well CC, it was very evident in your poem, I liked the images you used as well especially the bottom one, no pun intended.
Hehehe… *giggling* Thank you! Thought we could all do with some comic relief in the midst of all our frustration!
ha, nicely put. Have a good day CC.
And I believe you should sleep tight? Do I know or am I just guessing you are a few time-zones ahead of me? Or have I just made that up?
I am in Australia and it is 8.30pm Sunday. It’s about 12.30pm at your house yes? I live in the future CC. I seem to be a day ahead of everyone else.
Oooohhhh… Cool inspiration in those words! Hmmm… Well, in that case it’s almost ‘G’nite mate’… (no, I shouldn’t even try, should I?) And yes, it’s 12:31pm here. *smile*
Good try CC. I have a Swedish pen friend in Malmo whom I have writing on and off to for the past four years. I know a little about Sweden. Not much though.
And I had an Australian flatmate when I lived in Switzerland so I know a little about Australia too… Oh, and one of my best friends here in Stockholm is actually from Melbourne. Always dreamt of going, but so far the idea of seven of the world’s ten most venomous creatures living in on country (and a lack of funds) has prevented me. Isn’t it great that we can speak over such distances – and in our case even over time?
Yes it amazes me every day. Our venomous creatures will only bite you if you get in their way, youre more likely to be hit by a car, same as anywhere else.
Or trampled by a herd of wild kangaroos! 😉
Very unlikely CC. All kangaroos are wild and they will hop away from you. They come in mobs, not herds. But you never try and get too close.
*smile* Sorry, I was trying to be funny… It’s sometimes hard to get humour across in written form. Seriously, though, I will some day go to Australia – regardless of venomous creatures, simply because I find the nature, the history and the people interesting. One of the things holding me back, though, is I fear I won’t want to go home once I’m there! *smile*
Sorry CC if I appeared rude. Well not wanting to go home is a risk you run. But I would suggest you bring a hat and sunscreen.
English is my first language, and all too often I find myself saying something like “I’m thinking of one of those whatchamadoodles.” It’s terrible!
I can relate to this very much as I live in Sweden and Swedish is not my first language. I am really terrible at learning languages I have a memory like a cheese grater.
You actually LIVE in Sweden? *smile* Well, I hope we’re treating you kindly, as I know (from plenty of friends) that it’s not always easy to put down roots here. I’m sure you’ve got a good network going, but if you ever need anything just give me a holler and I’ll see if I’m able to help… Anyway, back to the whole language thing! Oh, thank you! That’s what I wanted to say! *smile* Thank you!
Sweden is lovely my husband is Swedish so we have his family. I admit I’ve been kinda of a hermit though I am quite embarrassed by how long it is taking me to pick up the language and I am just horribly shy besides. I am in Norrköping
Well, the language will come to you (though I have friends who have lived here for a very long time and still haven’t learned). My advice would be to ask your husband to speak nothing but Swedish with you… But I know that’s rough. As for the shyness… Have you checked out the international forums on-line? Maybe it’s easier if you get to know people that way first? I’d recommend places like thelocal.se but I don’t know what their forum’s like these days. That’s how I met most of my international friends here from 2006 and onwards. There aren’t only ex-pats on there either, some are just anglophiles like myself… *smile* And please let me know if there’s anything I can help with!
