You run like water through my mind.
A bubbly creek in spring.
I wish I could float away with those thoughts
just let my needy heart sing.
I fear I lack the language to
explain how the creek swells and floods.
I fear I lack the ability to
send my pleas to the distant Gods.
You run like water through my mind.
A raging river in fall.
I wish I could tame the torrents’ flow
that you would hear my call.
I fear I lack the capacity to
not panic as I try to cross.
I fear I lack the ability to
not sink with the feeling of loss.
You run like water through my mind.
A never-ending ocean.
I wish I could drown myself in you
and give in with complete devotion.
I fear I lack the beauty and grace
to swim among the dolphins.
I fear I lack just what it takes
to not make us my watery coffin.
This scribble was inspired by the poem ‘Does it flow as it goes?’, by Wyoming Diva. Thank you so very much for being my muse – and such a lovely and warm person!
Please also take a moment to read my previous scribble called Water, about how precious, and under appreciated, water really is.
This is also my entry for Open Link Night Week 7 over at d’Verse Poets Pub.
Nice refraining line: You run like water through my mind.
I like that you listed down all the doubts and fears…I think we all do feel this at some time or the other.
Lovely picture too….Happy day ~
The picture (like so many I use) comes from Google Image (if you click it it will link back to it’s original site)… Thank you for reading!
Love the repeating lines! So lyrical! Beautiful penning!
Thank you, Kellie! My pen (computer) and I thank you for that!
Water and love ARE the most powerful forces on Earth. Greater than wind, fire and the grace of ballerinas.
Would like to swim with dolphins, but not in a coffin. 🙂
Inspiring this.
Thank you Jannie! Really glad you liked it.
Certainly flowed as it goes and then some. Nicely done, really like the ending too.
Thank you, Pat… Like I said, I had inspiration from another poet… *blushing*
Felt the ache in this piece. To love someone from a distance and not have the love returned, hurts beyond words.
… and still it’s one of Mankind’s greatest pass-times to try to put that feeling into words… *sigh*
You run like water through my mind… what a fabulous base-line!
Thank you, Kim! It was the first thing of the poem that came to me, too.
Nice: “I wish I could drown myself in you
and give in with complete devotion.”
Thank you for reading!
you run like water through my mind….just lovely. I love water and I love the ocean so this spoke to me.
*blushing* Thank you Ayala!
wow wicked write…to make us our watery coffin…the repitition of you run like water through my mind…hard to catch water without it running through your fingers…and sounds like you put it on yourself…many do…
Thank you for reading, Brian. Just read your white-middle-age-man piece! That is truly inspired! *smile*
*blush* Thank you! This was a very inspired piece too – you have a way of using rhythmic language that is very soothing and thought-provoking!
You really did inspire this! And I thank you for that! *hugs*
I enjoyed this poem. Good work.
Oh, thank you very much! *smile*
