There were thirteen of us at the table on that day
and we each had a story to tell, but who can say
that what they had to say should go first, and so we sat
quietly, waiting for someone else to excel at
the story-telling we all had traveled there to hear
from all corners of the Earth, yes from far and from near.
As we sat there in silence our stories remained hid
because no one would tell them, and because no one did
we all left that table with as little as before
we all traveled homeward thinking that we should know more!
There were thirteen that gathered the day when no one spoke.
A day spent in silence, when our hopes went up in smoke
when words that needed saying were turned into a joke.
