Moonlight on water.
An abandoned summer’s beach.
Alone on the wooden jetty
with thoughts that seem so profound
they could engulf the world.
Trees rustling their autumn leaves.
Sit for a while in the gently caressing
Take it all in.
At peace, serene, alone – but, for the moment, not lonely.
Watch the moonlight
make a perfect path
through the dark waters
up to an infinite, star-filled, sky.
I really don’t have time for this and will now be late for my friend’s birthday party, but I should have known better than to ‘just’ go check the Imaginary Garden with Real Toads! This is for their Friday Challenge – A Vignette and, hopefully, gives a snap-shot of a long ago, but never forgotten, night when I went for a drive and ended up on my favourite jetty, just days before it was due to be taken up for the winter.
