please, come walk with me
and get off that stupid computer!
You’ve been on there a long time,
I think we should play
I’d be happy to wag my tail for you!
please, it’s time for food!
Do you love that computer more than me?
It doesn’t really smell much and
I think we should play,
have a tug-of-war, I’ll wag my tail for you!
please, come cuddle me!
My life isn’t much longer than a computer’s!
I’ve been staring at you, intently,
for a long, long, long, long time
and I’m wagging my tail, see?
I give up on you!
You and that damned computer!
I’ll go chew a bone and ignore you
– there’ll be no play today –
and don’t even think I’ll wag my tail for you!
what did you just say?
Did I hear walkies in that sentence?
Will you love me again and put away the computer?
Will you give me food, and can we play?
See, I’m happy, my tail is wagging!
I have a dog, an adorable five-year old Chinese Crested Powder Puff named Lizzie, so today’s prompt over at Magpie Tales made me think of all the time I spend staring at this screen rather than playing with her. I feel like such a bad mommy, but I know she loves me almost as much as I love her – and she is the love of my life. Obviously (hopefully) a dog’s life is longer than the life of most computers these days, but I’ll put that down to poetic license… Anyway, hope you could make sense of this.
