a thorny bush,
life is just beginning!
What holds a life for this young girl?
Will the thorns prick her, or flower for her?
At the beginning of new life,
all roses are so red!
Life before her,
Today’s challenge, Play it again, Toads #4, at Imaginary Garden with Real Toads was an interesting double whammy. We are asked to pair any of a choice of drawings, with any of the previous challenges posted by the Toads. Oh, I’ve missed so much in my absence!
In any case, after a discussion on form with Pooky yesterday lead me down a path of reminiscing about my days with the Poetry for Dummies at Gooseberry Garden, me – the woman who claims to hate form – looked through the archives at the Toads and found a prompt about something called Rictameter. This is a syllabic challenge, with a 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 syllables per line form, and the challenge was posted on Sunday May 18, 2013 in the Imaginary Garden. So, without further ado, here’s my attempt to match the Rictameter with this beautiful drawing courtesy of Margaret’s extremely talented daughter Chelsea Bednar. Hope you enjoyed!
