The food-bringer is my favourite.
Don’t really like him, though.
He’s handy to have around at times,
when the food in my bowl runs low.
The food-bringer is a fur-less one,
I’ve seen some more of his kind.
But this particular food-bringer,
is mine, and only mine!
His patting-claws are sometimes nice,
my food-bringer will do.
He warms my sleeping place at night,
so I suppose that’s a good thing too.
The food-bringer makes real weird sounds,
not a purr or a miaou in sight.
But as long as he does what I want him to do,
I guess that that’s alright.
The food-bringer sure is my favourite,
and I’ll stay here, close to him.
Or maybe go and watch the food
that in his water-tank swims?
Today is day 13 of NaPoWriMo 2014, and the prompt for today was to write a kenning. A kenning is when you use a metaphor of sorts to describe something else. In this case, food-bringer means human – as does fur-less one. The inspiration further came from Magpie Tales Mag 215 and today’s Sunday prompt. Hope you enjoyed!
