We’re friends from different places,
but friends all the same.
We might not look alike at all,
but we all have a name.
We play in different languages,
but we can still make do.
We might not all smile happily
but that is OK too!
We live in different houses,
some large, some very small.
We might have more or less at home
but our family’s our all.
‘Cause when we come together,
to laugh and sing and play
it should be very clear to you
we’re children of love, in every way.
I’ve once again taken my inspiration from the wonderful Imaginary Garden with Real Toads, and their Saturday prompt, which was to write a child’s verse. Since so much of my poetry rhymes (it’s so annoying I always end up rhyming!) I didn’t think this would be difficult. Then again, I don’t have children… Swings and roundabouts, my friends, swings and roundabouts. In any case, I hope you’ve enjoyed!
