A friend of a friend stopped by today
she told me a story, she had much to say.
See, she knew this guy, well they’d just met,
who had told her something she’d never forget.
This guy, he was actually one of few
whose brother was one of those who knew
a girl, who had worked in a restaurant
that was owned by this other guy’s long-lost aunt,
who in turn had heard from a couple she met,
on a trip to a country whose name I forget
that the daughter of their second cousin Earl
had been told by his buddy about this Wendy girl
whose dad was a cabby and had overheard
from an elderly couple out to travel the world
that they knew someone who had actually seen,
back in the 50’s it must have been,
New York’s albino alligator
or at least he once said so in an elevator.
So my friend, all excited, came to spread the word
that the story’s legit, all the rumours we heard!
And I ran straight here to now tell you
because how in the world could this not be true?!
Today’s prompt on NaPoWriMo 2014 was to write about a myth, and not a Roman/Greco one… At first I thought I might give my old ancestors, the Norse Gods, a try but then I latched on to the more modern urban legends – or myths if you prefer. Are these the myths the future will tell about our time? Anyway, here’s my offering – trying to lighten the mood a bit. Enjoy!
