Reflection distorted
for a two-faced soul
I look behind
and I look in front.
My beginnings I see
in the dawn of time.
The future is more
misty to me.
Am I coming or going
I do not know which
so here I will sit
and rest.
My reflection distorted,
mine a two-faced soul.
One finger on the trigger
of death.
This was inspired by Tess Kincaid’s beautiful Mag 110 prompt, where it has also been entered. It furthermore made me think of the Roman deity Janus, God of beginnings and endings (among other things)
Gosh, appears a bit morbid, CC! Great verse!
Hank
I will admit to having felt a bit morbid lately, so that’s spot on! *blushing* Thank you very much!
You have it right…we are two people in one…who we want to be and who we are. Nice read!
Thank you very much, Laurel! So happy to have you read and comment!
ouch-I especially lke the line “a two-faced soul”
I was very much inspired by the ‘two-faced reflection’… Thank you for the comment!
That last line makes me think she battles deep depression… left me quite unsettled.
I am sorry for unsettling you, Margret, but at the same time I am glad that the emotion I had when writing this translates to the reader… *blushing* Thank you so much! *smile*
Phew… this speaks of inner turmoil, chaos, and the struggle to finding ones true path.
Powerful imagery!
I love your Janus take…brilliant…
Wonderful idea – the daughter of Janus, looking both ways. The misty future idea chimes with my own thoughts. I enjoyed your take on it.
Good lines in this one…thanks
Wander
I like it!
Oh, quite ominous!
wow. i didn’t see the death stuff in this at all
mirrored
Poignant expose of duality and death ! .
Very creative take on the prompt this week … I enjoyed your poem.
Perfectly Janus!
Thank you so very much everyone for the comments. I am extremely humbled and proud that you’ve taken the time to read my scribble and comment. I have been going through a rough patch lately and apologize if I haven’t been commenting much on your poems, but I do read them! *blushing* Again, thank you!
Ooh – I’ll watch out for that finger!
Anna :o]
I like this very much. The last line is the killer.
